Pole Spin Magazine
Walk into any Barnes and Noble and you will see Ravan on the cover of Pole Spin Magazine! Once you open the magazine you will be able to read my story about how I got started in the pole world. It was very hard for me to open up and talk about some of the struggles that I have gone through but I believe it is important for people to know that they are not alone. It has been a very long and hard road with more struggles along the way then I imagined but each time I stumble I have to keep strong and pick myself back up. What helps me to continue is being at the studio! I love everything about the studio. The students who are so incredible and always an inspiration to me. Everyday I am moved by how hard they work while staying so postive. The teachers for giving the students the tools and lessons to grow and become more powerful everyday. My business partner Aly for always being the best friend a girl could ask for, I am so thankful to have her in my life. The feeling in the studio of love and excitement. The sound of laughter and clapping coming from the students and instructors for each others accomplishments. Everyday I am inspired and it gives me the drive to keep on going and continue my poel journey.
I can't wait to get the magazine and hopefully it helps someone out there to know that they are not alone and that Pole and Aerial fitness gives you a fire that no one can understand unless you yourself are an Aerial Addict. Thank you to everyone

Ravans Winning performance
Ravan our pole, ballet and flexibilty instructor competed in the International Pole Masters Cup in LA last weekend and WON! We are so proud of Utah- Charlee Wagner from French Kiss fitness up in Ogden won the women division. Ravan has worked hard for years perfecting his own smooth and dramatic pole style. He conveys excellence with his lines, pointed toes, strength and control. This is his and Charlees winning performances from the competition. He will also be competing in October in New York in the American Pole Fitness Championships. We wish him luck and hopefully will be bringing home another trophy!

Aerial Addicts!
Everyday I am absolutly floored at what our students are capable of doing. They are truly aerial addicts in every sense of the word. They are at the studio working hard and pushing their bodies to do things they never thought possible. This video is from our intermediate pole classes and from our Drop Shop hosted by Suzette Holly. The students in this video have been at the studio for as short as two months and up tp one year. Whitney Smith took all the video footage- we are very thankful to have a student like her to take time to make these awesome videos!

Name Change
To Our Pearl Family,
As many of you have noticed by now, we have officiallychanged our name to Onyx Pole and Aerial Fitness Studio. This name representsso much to us and we wanted to share our thoughts on this exciting change. Westarted this journey over a year ago and have grown so much in our experiencewith each of you. We have developed into a studio that is so much more than aplace to work out, but rather a place to call home. As we grew into this amazing studio we thought it was a perfect time to create a name for ourselves. An onyx is composed of straight and parallel bands of different colors that come together to create a strong appearance. This iswhat our studio is to us. All of you are our bands of color that make us whole. The outcome is strong black stone that represents strength, courage, beauty andgrace. This is who we have become and who we are. We want to thank all of youfor your ongoing support in our studio and we love have you all as a part ofour family.
Much Love,
Shae and Aly

Ravans Pole Performance
Introducing Ravan, our newest pole instructor! Ravan always come to Pearl with such a great energy and ideas. We are excited to have him join our family and bring light into the studio!
Ravan is a born performer. All his training and performance background is rooted in dance. Beginning with pre-ballet and tap when he was just 5 years old. Joining a performing studio when he was only 10 and traveling the world with them for several years, attended the University of Utah as a Ballet major for 4 years, and most recently accomplishing one of his dreams of joining a professional dance company, Odyssey Dance Theatre.
Just over 2 years ago, his journey of dance had taken to a new path… Pole Fitness. His original inspiration and spark for pole was ignited when he first saw a video of Felix Cane competing in her first competition in Australia. Completely in awe of the beauty and strength of it, the curiosity began. A series of fantastic events led him to experience pole fitness at it’s best when he began classes with Zoraya Judd. Not only was an instant friendship born, but Ravan’s journey into the world of pole as well.
Ravan’s years of performing and dance training proved to be quite helpful with conquering the new pole apparatus. His latest accomplishment in the world of pole was making it as a finalist in the 2011 American Pole Fitness Championships as well as being published in Pole Spin magazine. He continues to share his dance knowledge and training with others, teaching them and improving flexibility, musicality, strength and confidence. He loves educating others and helping with their growth as artists, both on and off the pole.

Suzy's Lyra Performance from Empowerment Show
Video of the day:
Suzy's performance from the show. Not only did she put together her beautiful performance she also helped a lot of the performers put together their routines.
Suzy teaches intermediate hoop, beginner and intermediate trapeze and all levels of silks. She is not only an incredible performer but the hardest worker! Everyone who is fortunate enough to take a class with her is welcomed with such warmth and knowledge. She really takes time to make sure everyone is comfortable and that they are being challenged in their classes. For us personally we would not have been able to get through the last year without her. She's always looking out for the studio and puts so much love into what she does. She is my hero!We are very proud of her and thankful to have her in our studio family.

Empowerment Event
The event that was held a few weeks ago at Pearl was more beautiful then I ever expected! It was such a magical evening for me personally. It was incredible seeing how many people were there- we had to turn people away we were so full! And just feeling all of the love and respect from everyone that was there. I was so proud to be a part of something so profound.
My performers were absolutely incredible, beautiful and so much more then I could ever express. I want them to know how thankful I am to them taking time out of their lives to put together such breathtaking routines. To be amongst such empowering artists was very inspiring. Many of the performances brought tears to my eyes. Great job!
We raised so much money for the Rape Recovery Center- we raised over $2,000!! Thank you everyone for their donations and coming out and supporting this great cause.
We will definitely be holding an annual charity event and hopefully each year we are met with such great success.
Here is a link to a video that Linda made for me! Thank you so much for putting this together its beautiful
Clips of all the performances!
We will be posting videos all week of some of the performances. Make sure to check back to see all the incredible videos.

Intermediate Hoop
For everyone out there that has taken any hoop or trapeze classes:
Walking into the studio you are frightened that you are not going to be able to do anything. While the intructor is warming you up you are looking up at your hoopor trapeze and thinking how am I going to get through this next hour without making a total fool of myself?
Now you are all warmed up and your teacher demonstrates how to get up into the hoop or trapeze, looks simple enough, you've got this. And then you try... Your legs drop to the ground instrantly not even close to the apparatus. Okay this is going to take more strength then you thought! You grip it really tight sure that this is going to make you stronger, and you try again, this time your toe hits the bar and you monkey your way up and get your knees hooked! You've done it. Now you have to sit up. With a lot of huffing and puffing, and struggling through that moment when you go to sit up and you are just hanging from your arms, you give one final grunt and you are up! Proudly you come down and think I can do this. Then you realize that you only did the mount and now you have got to learn the actual tricks.
For most of us we have been there. At first we are struggling to even get the move but are able to get through class.
But just getting through the moves is not the goal the true art is making it look easy and smooth.
In our intermediate class Suzy has been working with the students to combine moves with smoother transitions. Also there is a lot of endurance that comes into play as well. Here are the girls in our second ever intermediate class demonstrating the combination of the day.
